~ Spring Break: Girls Gone Wild ~ Due date: Wednesday, April 19- "Spring Break: Girls Gone Wild!" From Palm Springs to Daytona Beach, everyone looks forward to escaping those chilly winter days and letting loose for some fun in the sun. Tell us about one of your favorite vacation adventures (spring or any season.) Can't think of one? Then plan out an itinerary of a dream vacation and share that with us.
Palm Springs, California Palm Springs has always been one of the most popular Spring Break destinations for those of us who live in Southern California. Located in the warm desert, 120 miles east of Los Angeles, it's a short two hour drive but a world away. College kids flock from all over the United States to shed those winter parkas and don their bikinis.
In the 1960's, 70's and 80's, Palm Springs was invaded annually by hordes of libidinous college kids on Spring Break. But in 1991, former Mayor Sonnny Bono enacted a revolutionary "anti-thong" ordinance that put a lightning-quick halt to the Spring Break migration by eliminating public display of the bare derrière. Spring Break still continues but it has never been quite as wild and crazy.
While I've vacationed dozens of times in Palm Springs, I never was a girl gone wild there. I did go a few times as a teenager but I was always with my parents. Mostly, I went as a family with Jeff and the kids. I remember taking Justin there when he was just a baby and he drew quite a crowd jumping into the pool into my waiting arms. Jessica was just there this past weekend for her Spring Break from school.
