~ Hound Dog Hash ~
(Especially good for dogs
who need a short-term bland diet)
6 cups water
4 cups long grain rice
1 to 2 lbs. of ground chicken or turkey (I add more to make it
meatier)
2 carrots, finely diced
1/2 cup chopped green beans or broccoli (I've only tried green
beans and mixed veggies)
1 tsp. chopped fresh parsley (good for doggy breath)
Pour 6 cups of water into
a large pot and add rice
Crumble in ground meat and mix well
Stir in carrots and green beans
Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil
Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 15 minutes
Remove from heat and let mixture rest for 15 minutes
Sprinkle parsley on top and fluff with fork to mix thoroughly
Cool to room temperature
and serve
Store covered, in refrigerator, for up to 3 days or freeze.
I make it slightly different
than recipe:
I make the rice in a rice maker and I do add the vegetables
However, I microwave the ground meat (so I can drain some of the
fat)
and add it to rice mixture at the end
