Due Date- Friday August 1st- "Dog and Cat Tales." Here it is August already- the dog days of summer. We've blogged about our husbands, we've paid tribute to our moms, we've honored our dads and now it's time to brag about the four-legged creatures in our lives. I know it's hard to single out just one, but try and pick your most memorable pet whether from the past or the present. Photos are always welcome!

~ Dylan ~

The August 1st due date for this assignment has particular significance for me. It was exactly two years ago to the day that we were given the devastating news that our adored Golden Retriever, Dylan, had six weeks to live. He was diagnosed with lymphoma, an incurable cancer of the lymphatic system. Incurable, but not untreatable. With chemotherapy and a lot of luck, you might hope to keep them with you for a year. Well, that was two years ago and Dylan is still with us. You can read more about all of this and see lots of photos on Dylan and Kali's page. Bring your kleenex for that page. What makes Dylan so special besides defying all the odds and being a survivor? If Dylan were a character in history, he would be a chivalrous knight in shining armor. There is something so noble about him and good. If you visit their page look at the photo of Dylan with Kali in the snow. Pure nobility. Sir Dylan! And so handsome! He is good through and through. It would break his heart if he thought you were displeased with him. In fact, if there is ever any tension in the household, Dylan will fret. We laugh and tease that "There is a disturbance in the force!" We feel so fortunate that we've been able to have Dylan with us for so long after such a grim prognosis and we continue to adore him, enjoy him and appreciate every day that we have with him.

Thanks, Vicki!  Thanks to Donna for making this report card! Thanks, Deborah!

Thanks, Karen!  Thanks, MaryAnn!

Due Date: Tuesday, July 1st- "My Science Project." What I'd like you to do is go to your local nursery and buy a herb of some sort. But first, do a little research on what you think you might like to grow. You might want to grow an herb for cooking, or for aromatherapy, or even medicinal purposes. If you have a camera, take a photo of your little baby plant and then another as it grows. If you have room in a garden that's great but if not, grow it in a pot. (But, please, don't grow pot! LOL!) Then I'd like you to share a recipe or instructions for using your herb.

Please click here or on the Homework menu to visit my Herb Garden pages. For this assignment, I did basil and cilantro. I also planted rosemary and dill so you will also find info about them. The other pages are blank and just waiting to be filled up with info provided by some of the classmates. With their permission of course. Here is the Herb report card made by Connie, the coveted Brown Thumb Award made by Karen, and two awards from classmates: a Green Thumb Award from MaryAnn and a Herb Garden Award from Susan.

Thanks, MaryAnn!  Thanks, Susan!
