Due Date- Wednesday, February 16- "Desperate Housewives." Okay, so maybe we're not that desperate and maybe some of us aren't even housewives, but I thought it would be fun, in light of the popularity of this new show, to see which character we most identify with and why. Give us some examples of things you have done or could see yourself doing that are like one of the desperate housewives. FINALLY, here's a totally different way to complete this assignment and I'd actually like it if everybody would do this part, too. Give us your very best household hint, tip, recipe or whatever! Help make our lives less desperate!!!

 You are Bree!
Congratulations! You are Bree Van De Kamp, the
Martha Stewart on steroids, whose family is
about to mutiny.

Which Desperate Housewife are you?

Hmm... well, I suppose there is some truth to this result. I am a perfectionist about a lot of things. For example, when I am the hostess for a party or dinner, I must constantly clean and put things away as I work. It drives me crazy when people leave all their ingredients, pots and pans, etc. scattered all over the kitchen. I like everything cleaned up, put away and looking neat. You could walk into my kitchen during a big party and not see any sign that the food was being prepared in there. You'd think I had it all catered.

I have always been a perfectionist about my kids, too. I always liked them dressed in the cutest boutique type clothes and I could never stand them to have dirty hands or faces or uncombed hair. When we would go camping in Yosemite, I would follow them around with handiwipes. It was a next to impossible task considering the ground is black with soot from all the campfires.

~ Household Hints ~

I thought I'd share with you a couple of my favorite household products, most of which you can buy at Costco:
1. Febreeze Fabric Refresher- You can safely spray this on most fabrics and give them a fresh, clean smell. Works great for that "wet dog" smell on your carpet. Also good on tennis shoes, bedding, curtains, clothes and even in your car
2. Another Favorite is Downy Wrinkle Releaser- this is a life saver on vacations when you don't want to iron! A lot of times your clothes are still clean but wrinkled so all you have to do is hang them up and spray with this product and the wrinkles come right out. I use it all the time for my khaki pants that wrinkle at the knees and crease when you sit down.
3. De-Solv-It. One of my biggest pet peeves is the price tags or other adhesive stickers on products that you can't get off without leaving a sticky mess. This works to get them off as well as oil, tar, grease and gum.
4. Sprayway Glass Cleaner- an inexpensive 3-pak at Costco that gets windows and mirrors really clean and streak-free
5. Tilex Daily Shower Cleaner- spray this on the glass doors and tile after every shower to keep soap scum and mildew from building up.
6. Bath & Body Works Antibacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap- comes in a handy pump bottle in wonderful fragrances like Sweet Pea and Coconut Lime Verbena. It looks like a liquid but comes out like a foam- it's fun!
I do have another household hint to share. After our boy kitty was found "spraying" in our house, my husband bought a UV urine detector at PetSmart. I made the mistake of using it in our bathrooms. I had heard that when a toilet is flushed, a lot of the bacteria is "vaporized" and scattered all over the bathroom. Trust me, it's true! I ended up scrubbing the entire bathroom, floors, cabinets, everything with Lysol with Bleach Disinfectant Bathroom Spray. So here's my tip: always close the lid before flushing! Good luck with this because I know it's hard enough to get your men to even put the seat back down. And keep your toothbrushes covered or in a drawer or medicine cabinet!
