Due Date- Friday, October 31st- Halloween. "It was a dark and stormy night..." Tell us about something that happened to you that was really scary and spooky. Maybe something that seemed eerily strange. If you haven't ever had anything frightening happen, then make up a spooky story. Something that you would tell around a campfire when you're out in the middle of nowhere and want to terrify your listeners. Make us all shriek and quiver in our boots on Halloween night! I was sixteen and spending Halloween night with my girlfriend, Margaret. We were at her older sister's house in the San Fernando Valley. Now, her sister was in her early twenties and married so I thought she was all grown up and mature. I trusted her and felt secure with her, like I would a parent. We were watching scary movies on TV and around midnight, Margaret's sister and her husband said, "Let's go visit the cemetery and see what ghosts we can scare up!" I was too embarrassed to protest so off we went to this very old cemetery in Chatsworth- the kind with tall tombstones and crypts. Very spooky! It was so dark and there was a warm Santa Ana wind blowing making eerie sounds through the trees. Off in the distance, we could hear the clappity clap of horse hooves. They came closer and grew louder and louder but we couldn't see a thing! We were all frozen in our tracks and I looked to the older sister for reassurance but all I saw was fear in her eyes. Suddenly, six large horses emerged from the dark and the riders were all dressed in black and the tallest one wore a cape and if he had a head, none of us could see one! We all screamed and ran towards our car. We got in the car, locked the doors and sped off as fast as we could. When we got to the house, Margaret pleaded with her sister to tell us it was a setup, just a Halloween trick planned to terrify us. To this day, she won't admit that it was a trick.
